What is the Idaho Pregnancy Risk Assessment Tracking System (PRATS)?

PRATS is an annual population-based survey of Idaho women who recently gave birth. PRATS identifies and examines maternal experiences and practices that impact the health of mothers and infants. PRATS has data on a variety of topics, including health complications, prenatal care, postpartum care, infant care, mental health, and pregnancy intention. The PRATS program is managed by the Division of Public Health within the Department of Health and Welfare.

Data are used for planning, developing, and assessing state-ran perinatal health programs. Each year, approximately 4,200 new mothers are randomly selected to participate in the PRATS survey. Mothers are contacted via mail. Participation is voluntary and all responses are kept confidential.
